IAEE-CTC Educational Luncheon - Being an Influential at Work (and Beyond) with Thom Singer, CSP

Thom SingerMost people want to feel significant: at home, at work, in their community, etc…. But you cannot feel significant alone in a field.  You need others.  A person can fake success, but they cannot fake significance. Discovering what is important and interesting to other people is more important now than ever before.  Building a feeling of "TEAM" is often talked about but not always achieved in the workplace. This program is designed to educate and inspire anyone to make relationships a priority while learning work together.

September 17, 2015 IAEE-CTC Educational Luncheon - The New Rules for Effective Leadership…Becoming an Alpha-Level Leader
Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA)

Tim DurkinSpeaker, Tim Durkin, explained how the world has changed and the old ways of leading are proving to be both ineffective and often counter-productive. Today’s fast-changing environment needs leaders who are: better communicators, comfortable in uncertainty and values-driven. A recent study shows that 75% of companies will experience an event in the next 24 months that will threaten their continued existence. Of those, 80% will go out of business within two years.

Sobering? Yes. Full of opportunity? Yes.

During this session members learned :
The essential skill for all leaders today
How to define and measure the important metrics of a thriving organization
The power of asking the right question at the right time.
Why people won’t do what you ask or tell them to do and what to do about it.
Why what got you here won’t keep you here.

Our speaker was provided through IAEE’s Jim Lynn Chapter Education Grant.

Thanks to the Texas Computer Education Association for hosting this Meeting.

Additional services provided to exhibition attendees and exhibitors by the exhibition manager require an understanding of the needs of the guests as well as a working knowledge of hotel operations. Two of the service elements intrinsic to most events today are arranging for accommodations of guests and identifying which guests will be allowed access to which portion of the event. Regardless of how these services will be delivered, planning must begin early to ensure that housing and registration are easily accessed and do not become a hindrance to attending the event.
